5th Grade? Oh boy…

On Saturday, as I was getting ready to head out to my school to get some packing done, I received a call from HR telling me that my placement choices for next year were a) 5th grade bilingual at a school where I was interviewed by the most professional, business-like person I’ve met since I’ve been here; or (b) 3rd or 4th grade bilingual at a school where my interview was “interesting” (and that’s all I’m saying about that). I chose A. That being said, I’m really glad that I was able to choose my placement.

I’ll be in charge of 5th graders…something that I wanted to avoid like the plague, but since I’ve found a supportive network of teachers (including one of my best friends and my mentor teacher, who’s also moving from 1st to 5th grade at another school), I’m feeling a little more confident. The crazy thing is that I pretty much have to start all over again…new plans, materials, books, activities, etc. It’s like year 1 all over again…except that this time, I know what I’m doing….sort of!
